With Thanksgiving right around the corner and Fall in the air, we decided to do a Friendsgiving. And with all the memories captured, why not do a blog post all about it. Throughout planning and executing this, I was able to truly gain a love and sense of gratitude for everyone involved and everyone that I am surrounded with. Some times we tend to take for granted the things we have right in front of us, but Friendsgiving was a great way to examine all the priorities and the blessings that surround me. It is truly special to be around people you love, creating life long memories. I am truly grateful.
The planning of Friendsgiving happened quite a bit in advance because we wanted everything to be perfect. In October, we decided we wanted Friendsgiving and as November approached, we were able to set a date and plan assignments. My cute and amazing roommate Emma, spearheaded everything as we went forth. She started by creating Invites and sending those out as well as deciding what everyone should bring.
Our guest list was pretty small at 9 people, so we made sure everyone was bringing something to contribute... not to mention it was a BYOD ( bring your own dish) event.
After the invites were sent, we started creating assignments, That list looked something like this:
Roast Chicken with Vegetables - Emma
Mashed Potatoes- Delaney
Homemade Rolls- Hollyn
Green Beans- Eliza
Stuffing- Emma
Apple Pie- Emma
Pecan Pie- Emma
Pumpkin Pie- Delaney
Vanilla Ice cream/ whipped cream- Emma
Cheeseball & Crackers-Amberly
Mac N Cheese- Jansen, Josh & Hawk
Beverages- Sam, Jansen & Josh
With all the food assignments, we had a great variety of food and something to please everyone. And the food turned out great, Everything seemed perfect! In my opinion, I wouldn't have changed a thing.
The food was great, The company was great, and the atmosphere was perfect!
To think that this is a lot of food is crazy because this wasn't even all of it. This was just the beginning.
After all our planning, we still had some additional menu items. Like candied sweet potatoes! They were definitely a great addition to the menu.
Our variety of food made for a delicious & colorful plate.
And we still had dessert to enjoy as well.
Our dessert selection included: pecan pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie and vanilla cupcakes!
During our feast we played a couple thankful games. One of those included chocolate chips. We each had 2 chocolate chips placed on our setting and in order to eat those we had to share 2 things we were grateful for. I decided to share that I am grateful for education- It has been amazing to have the opportunity to further my education and be surrounded with such amazing people including my great roommates. I am also grateful for change. Change to become better. Change is such a blessing and helps to better myself and my surroundings. I have had so many great changes in my life that have brought me peace and happiness.
