Watermelon Summer Banner!

Hello Everyone... I know its been a bit since we've had some fun but here we go!

Summer brings a lot of fun and one of my favorite things is WATERMELON! It is easily my favorite summer treat. It is a nice refreshing treat on a hot summer day. That is why watermelon is the inspiration for this craft. So without further ado... lets get right into it!

Here are the papers I used for this craft (but you can use whatever you want)

  • White Cardstock

  • Summer Green Cardstock

  • Black Cardstock

  • Pink Polka Dots Paper

  • Watermelon Paper (This came in a set, you can get it here)

The Other Supplies I used are:

Adhesive Tape Runner (or a glue stick)

White Enamel Dots

Foam Adhesive Squares (these provide great dimension)

Hole Puncher

Green Gingham Ribbon

Mini Command Hooks (for hanging)

This project was made and designed using my Cricut Explore Air 2 and the Cricut Design Space. You can find the Cricut Project Here.

To start, I found the images I wanted to incorporate in the project on the design space. I then decided what papers I wanted to use and the watermelon paper really brought the whole project idea together.

After the design process was finished, it was time to cut. This is one of my favorite parts because I love seeing my Cricut work its magic.

Now that everything is cut out... it is assembly time.

I started by gluing the watermelon together. And after they were finished, I glued the pennants together with the letters. For the pennant pieces, I used the foam adhesive. This helps to make them more dimensional. It gives it really great depth.

After everything is glued together, I hole punched the top corners of each pennant. This makes it easy to string together when finished.

Because the watermelon pieces are folded in half, I glued the bottom edges down with some hot glue. That way, they will be easy to string together without using a hole puncher.

Now that everything is assembled, its banner time!

I cut my ribbon to the length of my TV console table because that is where I wanted to hang it, Since this is a multi layer banner, you'll want to cut 3 pieces of ribbon. The top will be the shortest and the bottom the longest so they layer well.

After I cut my ribbon, I was able to know how to string my banner pieces. I wanted my ribbon cut first so I could center my pieces accordingly.

After you have the ribbon threaded through, you can hang each section up. And it is as easy as that. I wish I had more pictures to document the process but it was just so quick and easy that I didn't really think about pictures.

And after all... here is the final product:

Hope you enjoy this fun summer craft as much as I did.... and remember to keep creating happiness.

XOXO,
